About us: established as a charity in 1999, we occupy an acre of site provide by Guildford Borough Council, on the community complex of Manor Fruit Farm, Glaziers Lane, Normandy, near Guildford, Surrey.
Our Aim
Through the medium of gardening and horticulture we aim to help people who have a long term or limiting disability and we can help to relieve those that are socially disadvantaged. Personal fulfilment and self-reliance are goals we help our clients to achieve, by productive gardening but having fun at the same time. We strive to build on existing skills and teach new approaches, offering expert advice.
Training
As a Day Centre we offer the opportunity for clients (if they so wish) to achieve a recognised horticultural qualification the National proficiency Test Certificate. This can act as a launch-pad to further training or employment. To facilitate this, we partner a county enterprise, Surrey Supported Employment, a job brokering service, giving help on an individual basis.
Therapeutic Horticulture
For those that have a ‘health need’ eg. Stroke problem – a personalised package of horticultural activity is offered to suit the individual. This hopefully will assist the person to rebuild their lives after an accident or illness. For the older person, we can demonstrate techniques that make gardening easier whilst getting healthy exercise.
The Normandy Therapy Community Garden is situated off the A323, approximately 6 miles from Guildford, Aldershot, Farnham, Woking and 8 miles from Camberley.
